New Miyamoto Interview

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

A new Miyamoto interview was posted up at IGN and although it is mainly about the upcoming Super Mario Bros. game, it does mention a tiny bit about The Legend of Zelda.

Do you think the Super Guide is a form of cheating, and do you think it can be applied to any game?

Obviously people will buy a game and if they can play through to the end they’ll do that. Some will buy a strategy guide, some will go online for hints, and all we’ve done is incorporate it in some way inside the game itself. We were able to create it for this game because we set out to make it specifically for New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and I think it depends on the priorities for other titles whether it may or may not make it in those games. We can’t really promise that it’ll be in every game from now forward, but at the same time there are some types of gameplay that are suited to a system like this. We’ll evaluate the titles on a case-by-case basis. Let’s use Zelda as an example, introducing it opens up a Pandora’s Box: do we solve the puzzles, do we show how to solve it in order to make them understand it, do we show the whole solution? It can be a difficult system, but we do see some value in it.

Is it possible that this “Super Guide” will be present in the upcoming Zelda title? Miyamoto sure does seem to hint towards that.

Link meant to be in Marvel Ultimate Alliance?

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

This may be old news to some, but anyways. It was said that Activision was going to feature Link in the Wii version of the game “Marvel Ultimate Alliance”. This is the only known demo of that game featuring Link. Link shows off his downward thrust and sword beam attack, and yes in 3D.

Note that this demo is from one of the designers for the game.

No Media Summit This Year?

Monday, September 14th, 2009

It seems that the recent rumor about the Zelda Wii trailer being shown at Nintendo’s Fall Media Summit next month may in fact be false. According to this interview with IGN and Nintendo, the event will not occur in North America (they hint that it may occur in Europe).

So while we’re not planning to do another big summit for all media this year, I think it’s safe to say we’re giving both consumers and writers like you ample opportunities to check out the games they want to see in advance of the holidays. Additionally, remember that in the past we have held a variety of consumer-sampling activities around the holidays. Your readers should be on the lookout for future opportunities to get their hands on the newest Nintendo titles, though there’s nothing specific I can share with you just now. Was there something else you wanted to see, or to ask about one of our games? Maybe we can make that next week’s Nintendo Minute.

Although that event may not occur here, they do hints towards other small events showing specific video game titles. But it does seem there is a small Nintendo press event happening on September 16th. But I wouldn’t expect anything worth being detailed at that event. There is also statements that Nintendo will make an appearance at the Kyoto Cross Media Experience 2009. We will keep you posted.

Zelda Wii

There are rumored reports that Nintendo is working hard to get a trailer finished to show the current status of the upcoming Wii Zelda game next month (Possibly at the next Nintendo conference). Infendo reports :

According to our insider source who wishes to remain anonymous, Nintendo is working hard to get a trailer made on a working build of the next Wii Zelda game. According to our source, the trailer will launch in October at an upcoming conference [Nintendo Business media summit?] and it will show shed some light onto the mystery of why Link didn’t have a sword.

As much as we can speculate to what is in the trailer, I hope to see that there is atleast a mention of Wii Motion Plus in the next Zelda game. What do you guys think about that?

Not only does this rumor state that we will see a trailer next month, but it also confirms that it will reveal the details about Link’s missing sword in the poster that was revealed at E3. Either way I would only take this with a grain of salt.
