Yahoo Games has suggested that Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword will release this holiday season. They have not provided a proper source where this information came from and we were all informed at E3 that we would not see this game until 2011. So I would only take this as a rumor for now until we get any kind of confirmation from Nintendo.
Link’s look is always a source of concern for Zelda fans. Will he be too old? Too young? Too cel-shaded? Too realistic? Regardless of the controversies, his games always turn out terrific, which is exactly what we expect of his next effort, Skyward Sword, when it ships this holiday season.

Well at least it is according to the Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Nintendo, Cammie Dunaway. Now it’s obvious that it’s her job to persuade potential customers into buying Nintendo products, in this case The Legend of Zelda. But to go so far as to say that Zelda: Skyward Sword is for the “core” Zelda fan is teasing quite a bit to every fan. I have my own personal opinions that lean towards this Zelda title going back to the series’ roots and hopefully providing the veteran fan that certain nostalgia feeling yet surprising us with new twists at the same time. I mean, it has already impressed me by re-introducing the sword beam attack in a new and fresh way.

Update : Although the game was not shown on the first day of E3 and initial reports turned out to be a hoax, The Legend of Zelda : Skyward Sword (Zelda Wii) was revealed and the game does use cel-shaded graphics.
Numerous reports have been hitting online today during the E3 2010 conference saying a small teaser was shown of Legend of Zelda Wii to prepare for tomorrow. Reports suggest the game will be cel-shaded (very similar to The Wind Waker) and had Link wielding an unknown blade. The video also showed Shigeru Miyamoto playing this new Zelda title with the Wii Motion Plus.
However I have been unable to find footage of this myself and am only going by online reports (such as Hyrule.net). If anyone can shed some light on this, please do so in the comments. So for now, take it as rumor until we get official confirmation tomorrow when Nintendo presents Zelda Wii.

Update: Zelda Informer is now claiming that these new details (below) are confirmed to be true. We’ll find out on June 15th.
Our affiliate, Zelda Informer, has yet again posted some supposed leaked Legend of Zelda Wii details. They claim these come from a random German forum which they will source at a later time. It is also said that these details originated from Eiji Aonuma’s E3 plan for the revealing of Zelda Wii. So as usual, take them as a rumor for now until we get any sort of confirmation at E3 in a few days.
Zelda Wii’s official title is “The Legend of Zelda”. There will be no subtitle.
The game tells a story several hundred years before Ocarina of Time.It also answers the question of how the Mastersword came into being.

Today is June 8th, 2010. In exactly one week Nintendo will take the stage at E3 and unveil not only their new portable console (the 3DS) and the Wii vitality sensor, but also their mysterious new MotionPlus-exclusive Zelda game for Wii.
As one more (and probably last) reminder, Nintendo’s media briefing is June 15th at 9:00 a.m. PT. That’s pacific time, so click here to find out exactly when that is in your time zone.
You don’t need to be at E3 in person to experience Nintendo’s announcements as they happen, because Nintendo has setup an official website where you can watch the show live. Just visit http://e3.nintendo.com on June 15th at 9 am PT and you’re good to go! Of course we’ll be reporting all the Zelda news as soon as possible with our own reactions too, so don’t forget to visit Zelda Chronicles that day as well.
To pass the time until some big E3 news or leaks, here’s a few Zelda related news stories from the past week that we didn’t think warranted a full separate post:

With E3 closing in real fast, it’s inevitable that we see a load of rumors concerning the next Legend of Zelda title (Zelda Wii). This time around a possible title for the next Zelda has been supposedly leaked and is given the name The Legend of Zelda: The Prophet of Light. I will not say this is legit in anyway as of yet, especially seeing how if you Google this title it only has one source… Zelda Informer. However, this site has been known for legit news in the past and the name can fit in my opinion. What are your thoughts on the matter?

Zelda Informer has posted some new Zelda Wii information supposedly from the Japanese message board 2ch. Keep in mind the information below is in no way confirmed to be legit.
* Link will be replacing the bow and arrow with a crossbow.
* Game is all but finished. Putting on final touches.
* There will be a playable demo at E3.
* Time travel does occur and it happens through the use of a new blade. (not the master sword)
* Link’s hometown is much bigger than in previous titles.
* There will be several “Majora’s Mask” esque sidequests.
* Character interaction will be more involving than in any previous title.
* The dungeon field dungeon method is changed, and one of the changes confirms a straight dungeon to dungeon portion of the game.
* The current name of the girl in the picture is Adelle.
* Combat is extremely fluent and innovative. No previous Wii title can give you a good example of it’s unique style.
* The game relies heavily on sword combat versus other items.
* There will be less items, but they will be used more frequently.
* There will be another main weapon added for an alternative combat style.
* The game will feature significant portions of flight.
A lot of this information sounds agreeable, as past interviews with Eiji Anouma and Shigeru Miyamoto hinted towards additions like flight, unique combat, and changing up the formula; and if you ask me it all sounds pretty damn good. That said, it could just as easily be written by an excited fan. We’ll find out at E3 on June 15th.

According to Go Nintendo a possible 2010 game listing from Gamestop reveals a release date of 11/01/2010 (November 1st) for Legend of Zelda Wii. You can view this photo to the right. However the placement page for Zelda Wii at the official Gamestop website does not reveal an exact release date just yet. But this same company mentioned an October release some time back. The chances of this image being real are not that high. The dates are mixed up and could very well be photoshopped. But do not dismiss this just yet, a November release is nothing new to the Zelda series.
