GoNintendo has a few tidbits of information on Skyward Sword from an early copy of the latest Nintendo Power magazine issue. The biggest news? No voice acting in the game.
- Zelda was confirmed to return.
- No comment on if Ganon would return.
- The new item known as the Beetle will be used in racing sidequests.
- No voice acting as it would not fit in with the series.
- Miyamoto has not upended the tea table…yet.
Obviously this information is slightly out of context, but hopefully the full article will be revealed shortly.

In an interview with Official Nintendo Magazine UK, the producer of Skyward Sword, Mr. Eiji Anouma, discussed the difficulties of changing the gameplay in Zelda and what new elements they plan on incorporating in Skyward Sword.
“It’s hard, obviously, to introduce major changes into the Zelda gameplay, and one of the reasons for that is that we have some traditional elements that we have protected and continued throughout the series. You have a field, you have dungeons, and there is a line across which area you are in, and which style of gameplay you are participating in. So what we’ve tried to do with Skyward Sword is to introduce some new elements. This time there are larger fields and dungeons that don’t really feel like dungeons or fields, but also incorporate some of those elements. We are re-imagining some of the traditional gameplay elements.”
That’s exactly what I wanted to hear. More inventive dungeons, a bigger overworld with actual content to experience within it, and a fresh re-imagining of the traditional Zelda gameplay. Just add orchestrated music, polish up the graphics a bit, and give Ganondorf a break and this could be one incredible game.

Update: Zelda Informer is now claiming that these new details (below) are confirmed to be true. We’ll find out on June 15th.
Our affiliate, Zelda Informer, has yet again posted some supposed leaked Legend of Zelda Wii details. They claim these come from a random German forum which they will source at a later time. It is also said that these details originated from Eiji Aonuma’s E3 plan for the revealing of Zelda Wii. So as usual, take them as a rumor for now until we get any sort of confirmation at E3 in a few days.
Zelda Wii’s official title is “The Legend of Zelda”. There will be no subtitle.
The game tells a story several hundred years before Ocarina of Time.It also answers the question of how the Mastersword came into being.

Gamespot has posted the E3 2010 Showfloor map plan, and Zelda Wii can be found by hovering over the Nintendo panel (a picture is available to the right). We already knew Zelda Wii would be revealed at E3 2010, but we were not quite sure on how it would be. Chances are that Nintendo will reveal a trailer during the Nintendo press conference (at 9:00 am PT on June 15th) and have a demo version of the game playable at the Nintendo booth. Don’t take this as 100% confirmed just yet, but seeing as how Gamespot is a legit source we definitely think it’s probably true. Check out the floor plan for yourself at Gamespot!

Today is June 8th, 2010. In exactly one week Nintendo will take the stage at E3 and unveil not only their new portable console (the 3DS) and the Wii vitality sensor, but also their mysterious new MotionPlus-exclusive Zelda game for Wii.
As one more (and probably last) reminder, Nintendo’s media briefing is June 15th at 9:00 a.m. PT. That’s pacific time, so click here to find out exactly when that is in your time zone.
You don’t need to be at E3 in person to experience Nintendo’s announcements as they happen, because Nintendo has setup an official website where you can watch the show live. Just visit http://e3.nintendo.com on June 15th at 9 am PT and you’re good to go! Of course we’ll be reporting all the Zelda news as soon as possible with our own reactions too, so don’t forget to visit Zelda Chronicles that day as well.
To pass the time until some big E3 news or leaks, here’s a few Zelda related news stories from the past week that we didn’t think warranted a full separate post:

With E3 closing in real fast, it’s inevitable that we see a load of rumors concerning the next Legend of Zelda title (Zelda Wii). This time around a possible title for the next Zelda has been supposedly leaked and is given the name The Legend of Zelda: The Prophet of Light. I will not say this is legit in anyway as of yet, especially seeing how if you Google this title it only has one source… Zelda Informer. However, this site has been known for legit news in the past and the name can fit in my opinion. What are your thoughts on the matter?

Our affiliate, Zelda Informer, is reporting that anyone who has been invited to this year’s E3 has been notified that the Nintendo conference (which starts at 9 am pacific time on June 15th) will last two hours. In the past couple years Nintendo was always given just one hour to present new games and hardware.
We know Zelda Wii and the Nintendo 3DS will be revealed this year. Is it possible another Zelda game will be shown when the 3DS is presented? I guess we’ll find out soon enough seeing how E3 is just under a month away!

Nintendo of Japan has revealed the schedules for upcoming first-party games in their latest Financial Results Briefing for 2010. The Legend of Zelda Wii is still set as a TBA (to be announced) date for Japan, but the game is not listed at all for neither Europe or the United States. It’s not unusual for a Zelda game to release later in America after its initial release in Japan, and it is possible it may release during the holiday season in Japan first and then early 2011 for the rest of the world. Please note this is not finalized yet and release dates may change (especially if the dates are still TBA).
