Link finds the Triforce in a demo version of Zelda 64

Speculation of physically obtaining the Triforce in Ocarina of Time first struck the fans when a beta screenshot of Link obtaining the full Triforce was released through the internet, magazines and other publications. However, this was a screenshot taken during the development of Zelda 64 and cannot be found in the final version due to that portion of development being removed.

But very soon after Ocarina of Time officially released, the speculation and rumors of obtaining the Triforce spread like a bad disease. This was first due to the fact that we never see Link obtain the Triforce of Courage, although it was obvious he did when he pulled the Master Sword out of the stone when he entered the Sacred Realm. With the fans being disappointed that Link could not obtain all three pieces on his quest, it created endless and impossible guides on how to obtain the golden artifact.

The internet was hit with hundreds of e-mails containing rumors and speculative solutions to finding the Triforce in Ocarina of Time. Several of the solutions did in fact appear to be legit and many fans tried to follow these step by step quests. Along with the rumors came a lot of media, mainly fake screenshots of the Triforce, the Temple of Light, Ocarina songs and many other tidbits of “proof” of Link physically finding the Triforce.

This article will go into each and every experience, rumor, solution and screenshot that was involved in this legendary Triforce hunt in Ocarina of Time (Zelda 64).

Rumor #01

throw a bomb before ganon’s castle in the center of the lava circle to uncover a secret passage to the sky fortress, where you will uncover the sky temple, this is where you will find the three triforce peices.

Rumor #02

1. okay go to the middle of Hyrule field ( right in the middle ) and set two bombs.

2. after they explode go up to death mountain into the hot place near the fairy

3. go to the right as far as you can go and play the zelda song

4. leave the cave and then get the owl to take you to the village

5. jump off the house and go to the grave yard and into Dampe’s house

6. read his dairy, if you have done it right it should read : gone fishin

7. go to lake Hyrule and catch two big fish, consecutivly.

8. run to town and get into the court yard. If you did this right it should be there. the real blue fairy gives it to you.

Rumor #03

Yo, I was talking to a friend of mine who is one of the lucky Nintendo testers, and I asked him about the Triforce in Zelda 64. He said you could get the Triforce. I said noway. I went to his house and he showed me it; it was like your screenshots of it. He didn’t show me how, the bastard! He said to figure it out by myself! I told him to go to HE-double-hockey-stick. He has one of those offical nintendo private walkthroughs that no one else gets to look at except the employees things. I am desparately searching for the Force, but to no avail.

Rumor #04

It has said to be rumored that there is going to be a sequal to ” The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time ” for N64. It is rumored that there was a plot to make game players more anxious to see why Link did not get the Triforce in Ocarina of Time. This sequal might contain Sheik ( Princess Zelda ) as the main character with Link coming in later. That is all I know right now about it but if I find more I will mail you back.

Rumor #05

I have some info on the Triforce. My friend(jerk) decided to show not how to do it, but where it is. actually, he didn’t show me, he told me(while my arm was around his throat). It is in –THE MARKET????? I can’t find it! it is The market of young Link, at twilight?? I don’t know this for a fact, just what he told me. ??You have to go into the market at twilight, then the Temple of time, go to adult link, the Kill the first zombie you see. This is as far as I have been able to get. After I killed it, another jumped me. Then go to the ruins of the bazzar shop, then play the Zelda song. A hole will open, and a chest inside has the Force?????

P.S. He also said that around 47% of all Regular edition and about 0.5% Gold editions have a glitch that keeps from getting the Triforce.

Rumor #06

After ya beat Ganon with 0 deaths, you do a couple things, then the portal to the Sacred Realm opens in Temple of Time. You and ZElda use your Triforce pieces, and entyer. You must search the Sacred Realm for the Lost Dungeon, the former resting place of the Triforce. when Ganon touched the Triforce, he corrupted the Sacred Realm. he stiill had the Triforce of Power when you put him in the Void. You and Zelda need to go to the Sacred Temple (now the Lost Dungeon), to where the triforce laid. you and Zelda must use your Triforces to bring the Triforce of Power back from Ganon’s hands, and put them back 2 getha in the Sacred Realm. Zelda can give you hints, she follows you. I’m in front of the BOSS door, in a room full of Moblins. I need to kill them all under a minute to open the bars leading to the boss door. I ask Zelda for help, and she just says “I think these moblins are the key tp getting thru that large door.” the moblins keep cumin bak 2 life, and i can’t get to the boss. I’ve heard about the boss, it’s a Shadow of your worst nightmares. So, you must fight “shadows” of some old bosses, with new moves. They include dark link, twinfova, volvagia, bongobongo, and of course a ganondorf shadow. I’ve just read about the boss in a magazine. PLEASE HELP!!!

Rumor #07

This is about the Z files how that picture is with link and the triforce, well it’s for both versions not just the Japanise version because i have seen it, you will see a whole different ending if u just get and do every single thing that u can do examples are like by getting all of the heart pieces or by getting the Bigoron sword you have to get everything that u can and use the internet to find out how to get everything. Then the ending will be totally different Link will regain the Triforce, Marry Zelda, Ganon will die and everything will be perfect and i know that is the last Zelda game ever because of the ending, if u do this the ending will be 45 MINUTES LONG! I timed it! That is the truth there are not 2 versions! That is the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth and that is the bottom line!

Rumor #08

There are two rumors that I know of. One is that the Nintendo screwed over the Americans by giving us a bug version, that does not have the full and true ending like the Jap kinds have if any one has the jap version plz help me out on this. Too that some say that the bug in the game was a accident and Nintendo had all ready sent out the American version to stores, but was able to fix the bug on the jap version and get it stocked up before the release date, also they say that they are coming out with a 1.00 version if I may say that (Like they did with Goldenly) And it will be out soon. Not sure on that do not hold me to it. The other rumor is that there is a trick ending like say if you do every thing in the game (Some of it might not even be mentioned in any walkthrough) then beat Ganon is the scared realm. Then you need to go to the three dungeons of Din, ect (I can not remember there names on the spot) kill all the monsters, and bosses that he has but there to guard the three and each one of them gives you a piece of the triforce the it all comes together and screen goes white and you are in your room, you are little and Saria has just woke you up and says “that must have been some dream because you were talking so load that you woke up every one in the forest. Come on lets go play in Lost Woods, and on the way you can tell me about your dream on the way there.” Then you go with her fairy less and the screen pulls back to a sky look of all of Hyrule and Din ect. fly across the screen and spell out in there colors friends for ever. Then screen goes black and the credits roll. That story sounds to be real or someone made it up that has a lot of time on there hands. If anyone has the Jap version plz try to clear this up. I use Jap not to be mean just as short. To all that read this tell me if you know any thing, or any other thing to do in the game.

Hey, I saw your page and I saw a most wanted trick that you wanted to get see if you can get a triforce. Well…I’ve gotten it! It the American version and it’s not the gold cartridge. I suspect that you don’t believe me so I took a screen shot! I know this is going to disappoint you but I am not going to tell you how to get it….just that it exists. And about the blue fairy, it’s for the japanese version. We got the laphing pink haired exotic fairy instead. I haven’t tried to do any other of your most wanted tricks but I will try. Hint: The triforce is not with the gorons nor in the castle(s) and you have to be an adult.

I can see why you don’t beleive me now. I’m pretty sure you have to have epona (I haven’t tried to get it without her) and you go to the far end of hyrule field (around the lake area) somewhere in there you can bomb one of those boulders and go inside, it will be a hallway kind of thing and just walk foreward to a switch. by the xswitch is a rock, place the rock on the switch and water should surround the hallway (but not to where you get wet) go down the hallway some more and there should be 5 bats and a locked door in front of you. kill all the bats and the door should open…walk a little ways in and a little scene will start and the triforce will rise out of a well-like small hole and the dialog says, “You have found the TRIFORCE! -note: you have to have finished the game without dying at all- then it says the power of hyrule is in you” then you go back to Hyrule castle and now the guards don’t care even if they see you. The now address you as Master and go inside the castle and find Zelda/Shiek somewhere in there and you get a surprise ending, a scene rolls for, it seems, 7 minutes then it rolls the credits…

I’ve finally been told the where abouts of the triforce, so don’t waste your time on those rumors I’ve read about on your site. All of that “secret” or “lost” dungeon stuff is crap. I’ve got the truth written write here. If your not believing me maybe you should know that my second cousin is one of the vice presidents of NOA. I called her up and finally got in touch with her. I asked her, “where the heck is the triforce?” She told me that wasn’t her department but she said she would try to get some information to me. Well, after about a week of waiting I finally got an email from her. It said that she had to go through alot of stuff to get the info but it finally came. She also said that the whole reason nobody knows where it is is because NOA decided to keep it a secret for about a year ( or until Zelda64 sales go down) to announce this secret hoping it would get people playing Zelda again. She also told me to keep this info a secret and not go spread it across the internet Heh heh heh. Well here it is First of all you have to have already beaten the game and viewed the ended. OK this next part is a little tricky but of course a secret like this isn’t going to be easy! It dosnt matter if you’ve died already but you do have to have all 100 skulltullas (a reward a little more satisfying than that gold rupee huh). You don’t have to have all the heart pieces either. First blow all the gossip stones into space using the bombs. You must keep track with which ones youve already shot off because they reappear (note: leave the 4 stones infront of the temple of time because you can’t bomb them). Once this long feat is completed go to Link’s house. Now play the song of time anywhere in his house ( you won’t hear any noise but trust me it’s working). Now go to Lon Lon Ranch and stand infront of Malon. Again play the song of time. Now play the same song once more any where inside the windmill in Kakorika village. Now this next part really suprised me. OK now return to links house and guess who will be waiting for you …dark link.he will be sitting on the center table.he won’t talk to you until you play sarias song. then after a short conversation he will teach you a very important song “the song of the sages”(you must remember it because it won’t appear on the quest status menu) which will warp you to the sacred realm (this song will not work any where except in front of the 3 spiritual stones.( there will be a platform there, so it is sort of obvious where to play the song). At your arrival at the sacred realm you will find that all of the sages have been trapped in a large cage by Ganon. They tell you that the only way to set them free, save hyrule, and obtain the entire triforce is to defeat Ganon again. They combined their power to form another rainbow bridge leading down to a door. inside you will see the triforce.( it is not the same as your screenshot) if you walk towards the triforce, a green sphere will appear around it. ganon will fall from the ceiling and the fight will start. he will suck all of your weapons and shields and you will have to use the kid sword. It took me 52or 53 tries to finally defeat him.as soon as he is dead, the sphere around the triforce disappears. Hyrules returns to normal, the sages are rescused, and Zelda becomes ruler of Hyrule.and most important the triforce is yours (and it does show up on your quest status sheet).I know your probably not believing this but trust me. You won’t regret it because the satisfaction of finally obtaining the triforce is great . ( boy is my cousin gonna get mad when she finds out about this!!).

Rumor #11

Use “Triforce” as your name and you must beat Ganon with a ‘perfect’ game.

Here is the ending and what you need to perfect your game.

I will provide the COMPLETE list to what you must do to ‘perfect’ your game right here, right now! Others will support my theory in a few days! People will have found the Triforce and that’s all the proof I need!

1. Get 100 Skulltulas
2. Get 36 Heart Pieces
3. Get all upgrades. WARNING: If you miss the Deku Nut upgrade, the trick can not be done.
4. Get these scores on Mini Games
Archery: 2000
Horse Race: 49 or less
Marathon Race: 1.15 or less
Fishing: 20 lbs.
5. NEVER DIE! To help, always carry fairies and never let your hearts go below half!
6. Collect the Scales
7. Plant all the beans
8. Get all the items
9. Get all the bottles
10. Make sure to get all the swords, shields, and boots. (kinda common sense… oh well… i said complete)
11. Make sure you have all the masks.
12. Catch a 10lb. Fish as a kid.

I believe this is all. If I have forgotten something I will quickly post it. Remember, I am writing this now out of my head.

Also, remember that you must not fight Ganon before all this is complete.

All references to Link, would be Triforce in your game, for that is the name of your character. It is just easier to understand this way.

Link enters the Chamber of Sages by playing Zelda’s Lullaby on the Ocarina of Time in the large Triforce icon in the Temple of Time.

When he arrives, Zelda is there waiting for him, along with the other sages.

Zelda: Oh Link! I knew you would come. Our efforts shall now have a glorious outcome.

Link notices the other sages.

Darunia: Hey brother! The time has come. My people and I wish for you to have it.

Saria: The Kokiri also want to give the Triforce to you Link. From the first day I gave you your ocarina, you have helped Hyrule.

Nabooru: Indeed, he is a warrior. Link has helped the Gerudo much. He saved me from my imprisonment and helped save Hyrule. He deserves the Triforce.

Ruto: Of course my fiancé is a wonderful man. The Triforce is
rightfully his. (She makes a provocative look at Link) Isn’t that right?

(Link steps back a bit)

Impa: Indeed, the fairy boy is a true Hero. MY people of the Sheikah are all but extinct, and he has helped Hyrule by giving us a chance to survive. Give the Triforce to him.

(Link turns to Rauru)
Rauru: It is time Link. We will unseal Ganondorf and give you the opportunity to take the Triforce of Power from him. Are you sure you will try to do this task?
Yes No

If “no” is chosen:
Rauru: Come Link. Have faith in yourself. Do you still want to try?
Yes No

If “yes” is chosen:
Rauru: Then go now. Your task awaits you. Zelda will assist you by using her power to contain Ganondorf. We, however, will not be able to help you, as we will have to keep the rift open to seal him quickly again. Good luck, Link.

(The sages begin to gather their power. The six colors of the medallions eminate from each of the sages.)

(The floor opens, much like the portal on the floor of the Forest Temple at the end, but yellow.)

(Ganondorf is raised from the portal. Zelda uses her power to hold him in place as she did at the end of the game. Ganondorf is severely battered and beaten from his encounter.)

(Link approaches Ganon and raises the Ocarina of Time. He plays Zelda’s Lullaby and the Triforce pieces of Power, Wisdom, and Courage go to the center of the Chamber.)

NOTE: THIS IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT FROM WHAT I SAID LAST, BECAUSE I
DIDN’T WANT TO SPOIL IT, BUT YOU HAVE ASKED FOR THE ENDING SCENE AND HERE IT IS!

(Zelda’s power begins to weaken, and she drops Ganondorf into the abyss with her remaining power.)

(Ganondorf falls back in, and the sages seal him again.)

Zelda: The Triforce is now yours Link. Our quest is complete. Hyrule will now reach a new age of providence and all will be well.

Rauru: Take the Triforce, Link, and make a wish upon it. Make the wish reflect what is in your heart.

Impa: If the three powers are in balance, the Triforce will accept Link.

(The Triforce is spinning in the center.)

(Link steps up to the Triforce. It comes to him and it accepts him.
The three forces are in balance.)

NOTE: AT THIS POINT, THE CAMERA ANGLE GOES TO ONE OF HYRULE, AND THE CREDITS START TO ROLL.

The Exact Tour the Camera takes Over Hyrule:

AT THIS TIME THE CREDITS OF THE STAFF ARE SHOWN ALSO. I DID NOT TAKE THE LIBERTY OF COPYING THAT DOWN.

When this happens, there are no people to be found.

Starts in Kokiri Forest.
Zooms around Deku Tree.
Goes to the Entrance to Lost Woods.
Flies through the many ways and eventually makes it’s way to Goron City.
Flies around in circles and takes the passage to the Crater in Darunia’s chamber.
From the crater, they exit to the top of the mountain.
Now, there is a tour down Death Mountain, very similar to the one with
the owl.
The camera emerges in Kakariko Village, totally deserted (except for one chicken… which is really starting to bother me).
The camera goes to Hyrule Field and makes it’s way to Gerudo Valley.
After a glamorous view on top of the waterfall, it goes down the river to Lake Hylia.
At Lake Hylia, the camera zooms in on the grave for a second.(this is also starting to bug me). The camera stops at the ice block, and goes to Zora’s Domain.
At Zora’s Domain, you see everything is still ice(to prove any doubt that you CAN NOT unfreeze it.)
The camera goes out to the River itself and for some reason after that appears in the Desert. (don’t ask me why… i have no idea.)
A nice view of the desert collasus, and then the Haunted wasteland.
Camera goes over Gerudo Village and archery grounds.
Now… camera somehow appears around the Castle grounds and then the Courtyard where you meet Zelda (completely deserted also)
Finally, the camera comes to rest in Hyrule Field staring right at Lon Lon Ranch.
At this point, the goddesses fly over the sky and the text at the bottom right reads: “The End” (in elaborate text).
Also, your scarecrow song does not play this time.

Satisfied now everyone. I’ve revealed all I know about the new ending, down to the last detail. This took a while to get the information and type, but it was all worth it in the end, if it gets everyone to believe the truth.

It works, and the Triforce can be found. Good Luck everyone.

The Alleged Miyamoto Hint Towards Finding the Triforce

During the infamous hunt for the Triforce in Ocarina of Time, a supposed  poem by Shigeru Miyamoto struck the internet that was said to be a hint for finding the Triforce. It was obviously fake, but it’s interesting to read nonetheless.

If you seek to open the Gate
The Key you seek is shadowed fate.
In the secrets that lie beneath the ground.
Is where the wisdom required is found.
To find the third force of power,
First you must seek the sacred flower.
When the three gather all in one place.
Then you shall see the sacred one’s face.
On to the realm through the gates you pass.
Before you will stand a magnificent mass.
Three stone structures with names familiar to you.
The names of the gods, Din… Farore… and Nayru…
